Best Season: 24-0 (S37)

Program Record: 702-285

Current overall recruiting class ranking: 4

Conference: [[L5_C16]]

Coach JB joined St Louis in season 8, and quickly found his footing with a team that had talent but no proper leadership the season before. Led by senior C Scott Walden, the Masqueraders powered their way to a 17-7 record in a very competitive conference and league.

The team played well even after Walden's departure, thanks to successful recruiting efforts. In his first season, JB landed a true 7-footer at center, Trevor Haskins (FGGGFF), and the 2nd recruiting season yielded two great perimeter talents - 6'8" Joe Roberts (EGFFPG) and 6'3" Charles Haskins (EEEFFF). Joe quickly established himself as a league-wide presence, earning kudos from every reporting source around the league.

But St Louis wasn't done establishing its presence in the league. The very next season, another top recruiting class joined the squad, with three great F/Cs joining the perimeter stars. SF Bradley Rae (6'8" GFEGGG), PF Tommy Hopkins (6'9" GGFGFG), and C Clinton Stellar (6'9" GFGEGF) rounded out an incredibly talented starting lineup that instantly took over Conference 16 and made two Final Four runs during their college careers.

Also providing motivation to St Louis was a challenging in-conference rivalry with the perennial Top25 Milwaukee Golden Beers (coached by Hcych), whose star SG Roger Sampson never quite got over the hump against Joe Roberts.

As the rivalries faded, however, so did the team. While St Louis won many more C16 championships over the following seasons, they didn't regain league-wide stature until the team acquired the next in their long line of great PGs - Bart Mulhall (6'5" EGGFFG). "King Bart" had an instant impact at St Louis, earning League POY honors while taking a mild-mannered 13-11 squad to the Final Four on the power of his own incredible efforts (25ppg on 60.2% FGs), losing to eventual champs Amarillo. Three seasons later, with some help from underclassmen (Irvin Billings - 6'3" EEFGFG, Al Trail - 6'11" GFGEGF), Bart crowned his award-laden career with an NTT championship - St Louis' first!

After another brief drop-off, St Louis returned to the national stage with the signing of back-to-back ranked classes. Season 34 was the rookie season for PG Lawrence Kroeker (6'2" EGGGFE) and SG Emmett Poplar (6'5" EGGFFG), and Season 35 saw the debuts of SF/PF Curtis Green (6'10" GGFFFG) and PF/C Chad Stewart (6'10" GFFEFG). By the time the dust settled for this fantastic foursome, they had won two NTT titles and a league-record(?) 67 consecutive victories.

Following that incredible run, St Louis signed yet another stellar guard - Marquis Hopson (6'6" EGGGFG). Marquis had perhaps the best statistical career of any Masqueraders, 2nd in scoring and 1st in steals while shooting 57.1% from the field. His unique claim-to-fame is earning three First-Team All-League awards at three different positions (PG, SG, SF). He couldn't, however, live up to the NTT-title expectations left behind by his predecessors.

The '43 Masqueraders follow the old-fashioned CoachJB formula - low-impact big men with a penchant for passing, a pass-first PG, and two incredibly-accurate shooters on the wings (Rashad Cole = 65% FGs, Brian Manning = 61% FGs). The team was successful in the regular season with yet another C16 championship, but failed to win the C16 tourney after a 2nd-round upset against golfteam's Milwaukee Gorillas. They are still alive in the NTT.

The Season 42 Masqueraders carry a unique burden; the team has won 6 straight Regular Season and Tournament championships in C16, but doesn't have a leader to follow to victory. For the first time in a long time, St Louis will depend on every player staying within their role and playing up to their expected level - rather than previous seasons, when they simply set they studs loose and let them win ballgames.

Conference: [[L5_C16]]

In the first decade of SimSports, the Sioux City KrackRabbits played a successful brand of possession-oriented basketball. They consistently recruited and coached several great 'possession PGs' before the coach retired. While always second-fiddle to Cincinnati in the North, they still made the NTT on a couple occasions.

Back in the 'teen' seasons, Sioux City became a nationally recognized program, featuring many elite players. They first hit the NTT scene after landing highly-anticipated, top-ranked recruit Mohammed Kessler, a 6'10" do-it-all who lived up to his reputation in college. Two seasons later, Mohammed was joined by hotly-contested recruit George Watkins, a 6'8" forward with incredible shooting and defensive skill. The tandem led their team to a pair of deep NTT runs, but never managed a League Championship.

Sioux City has had its glory years and runs in conference 16, but recently with the increased competition in the conference they have fallen on harder times. An interesting factoid, they provided both losses surrounding St. Louis' 69-game conference winning streak. The first was the C16 Tournament championship game in Season 35 (they finished just 12-12), and then they broke the streak in Season 41 when Masquerader star Marquis Hopson missed three games due to injury.

Sadly, the Simpletons have posted straight losing seasons since that Season 35 upset. Hopefully fullofit can bring the simpletons back to their glory days and begin to salvage a once strong program.

Conference: [[L5_C16]]

Cincinnati was the original heavyweight of Conference 16, dating back to the very first season of SimSports. Coach Sulla was well known for being abrasive and conceited on the message boards, but his teams often backed up his trash talk with successful seasons (no NTT titles, however). Cincy was also the first team to institute Sulla's "T-Mac Rule", allowing only players 6'7" and taller onto the team.

More recently coached by jbayer, Cinci has been a long standing top program in the north division of conference 16. There was a time not so long ago that Cinci was dominating this conference (circa S32-S35) and were very tough to beat with their mean center Kahil Outlaw.

They have remained a very strong and consistent team, staying in the NTT picture year in and year out even though they have lost some of there edge over the north. They run a rather rugged style of play, not star based at all, but rather focused on all-around strong team play, doing a little of everything. Not the most conventional team, and coach jbayer doesn't mind being undersized as he has shown a propensity to win with many different styles of lineups.

Last 5 seasons: 74-46

Best Season(s): 32-34 (20-4 each season)

Currently #14 in overall recruiting class rankings in LG5, most of that being very spread out talent, no real stars.

In the early era of SimSports, Dayton was a perennial doormat to stronger franchises in Cincinnati and Sioux City. They developed into an NTT squad for a brief period in the early 20's, riding the narrow shoulders of 6'7" PF Antwan Elam with a defensive-minded supporting cast. In Season 21, the team set franchise-high marks of 4.2bpg, 7.3spg, and 15.1apg while making the NTT with a 14-4 record and finished 16-8. They soon returned to mediocrity.
Dayton has been coached by coach Blalock1 since season 33 and have slowly risen out of their historical ineptitude to become a very competitive team, overthrowing Cincinnati's grip on the North division. Up to date their best season was the magical season of 36 when the first three seasons of rebuilding finally accumulated into a milestone 19-5 season. Led by its all-time leading scorer SR SG Todd Kyser, Dayton managed to beat Cinci 2 out of 3 games, winning the north and ending up in the NTT where they went 3-3.

Since that season Dayton won a PTT title in S37 when they where lead by three SR starters who comprised Coach [[Blalock]]'s first ever recruiting effort in Sim Sports. In S39 Dayton returned to the NTT scene, but struggled and finished with only 15 wins.

Season 40 was another landmark season, with Dayton raising the bar on offense with team-records of 53.8% FGs, 18.0apg, and 468 FTAs. The development of a young, dynamic guard duo (Wayne Carroll and Brandon Vaughan), combined with the leadership of 6'9" Terry Ridenour and the successful recruitment of stud C Andre Morgan, produced the most well-rounded Dayton squad to date.

With all the key starters returning, Season 41 was gearing up to be Dayton's best. Through the first 14 games of the regular season, they suffered just one loss - to St Louis, of course. But a late injury to their starting PG spelled doom, as Dayton lost game 15 (and the C16 regular season title as a result), held the injured starter out of the whole conference tournament AND out of the first couple NTT games. Needless to say, they lost more games than tney won.
Current coach: balla13

A long-term doormat in C16 North, Peoria enjoyed a brief period of muted success with 36bombs leading the squad to a series of PTT bids. They peaked in season 22, going 14-10 while shooting 51.8%, led by senior SF Elden Sorrell (18.3ppg, 32 blocks).

Coach balla took over for Peoria in season 36 and has done a tremendous job turning that program around. After bringing in four of his own recruiting classes, he looks to finally be on his way to making Peoria a NTT caliber team and making his mark on conference 16. A difficult conference schedule has kept them from making the Big Dance so far; an experienced and versatile lineup could make this difference in season 42.
